Ford Transit Engine Skid Plate

If your transit is equipped with plastic factory trim as shown below it will need to be removed prior to installing the skid plate. There are some small bolts at the front of the trim piece that attach it to the bumper and there are (4) clips that need to be depressed in order to pull the trim down.

See picture below of the clips and trim location.

Once trim piece is removed (if needed) the front brackets can be installed through the front frame rails at the (2) locations circled below. Use the provided (2) M12x80mm flange bolts and M12 serrated flange nuts to bolt the front brackets as shown.

Leave these loose for now so that they can move on the slot. both of the bracket will point towards the center of the vehicle.

Remove the (4) Frame member bolts as shown below. You will re-use these (4) bolts to install the skid plate.

If you have the front lip option for the skid plate install the front lip onto the skid plate with the (2) 3/8 bolts, (4) washers on either side and (2) nylock nuts as shown below. Leave the remaining (4) holes open for now.

Using a jack or a partner lift the skid plate into place to line up with the (4) factory holes in the rear and the (4) front brackets holes in the front. The front will use the provided (2) 3/8 bolts, (4) washers on either side and (2) nylock nuts on both sides of the skid plate.

Once everything is in place you can start tightening the bolts to the following specs:
Factory Rear bolts: 25 ft-lbs
3/8 bolts: 35 ft-lbs
M12 bolts: 35 ft-lbs
