Three things have to be right to tow safe. The hitch has to be the correct class and rating for your trailer, with the right drop or rise for your truck ride height — a lifted truck on the wrong ball mount points the trailer nose-down or nose-up. The brake controller should be proportional (it brakes the trailer in step with your truck, not on a timer) and wired into the factory tow harness, not spliced in. And the trailer wiring — 7-pin or 4-pin — needs sealed, factory-integrated connections so the lights and electric brakes work every time instead of flickering or corroding out.
