A 2022 Ram ProMaster — this one a Winnebago Travato — lifted 3 inches on a Journey's Offroad kit clears 245/75R16 all-terrains and drives almost exactly like stock. Important: vans newer than 2022 are limited to a 1.5-inch lift by their stability control.
This 2022 Ram ProMaster came into Juggernaut USA in Wheat Ridge (Denver), CO as a Winnebago Travato whose owner wanted to get off the beaten path and was worried about the van's low factory ground clearance. We installed a 3-inch Journey's Offroad lift kit, Method Racing 703 wheels, and 245/75R16 Falken Wildpeak AT3 all-terrains, then added our generator skid plate to protect the underbody.

Why lift a Ram ProMaster
Ground clearance is the ProMaster's weak point. It is front-wheel drive with a low nose, and on a heavy camper build like a Travato the underbody is the first thing to catch on a rutted forest road. Getting the van up 3 inches and putting a real all-terrain under it is what turns a delivery-shaped chassis into something that can actually leave the pavement to reach a campsite.
How the Journey's Offroad 3-inch kit works
It is not a block-and-spacer job front to back. The front of the kit uses spacers plus subframe spacers, and the rear uses spindle relocation brackets so the axle actually moves up with the lift — unlike a traditional rear block lift, which just spaces the body up off the axle. We went with the Journey's kit over the other 3-inch options for a practical reason: its top hat has integrated mounts for the spring compressors, which actually makes it easier to install than even the 1.5-inch kit. On a van, easier and cleaner also means more repeatable and less to go wrong down the road.
The install gotcha: traction-control errors before the alignment
Here is something worth knowing if you take this on: before the van gets its post-lift alignment, if the steering wheel is off-center the traction control system will throw a ton of errors. It looks alarming, but they self-clear once the alignment is done and the wheel is centered. It is a normal part of the process on these vans, not a sign anything is wrong — but it is exactly the kind of thing that sends a driveway installer into a panic.
Fitting 245/75R16 tires on a lifted ProMaster
The 245/75R16 Falken Wildpeak AT3s clear on this setup, but not without a little work: the front mud flaps have to come off, and it takes a small amount of trimming at the front of the rear wheel wells. Done that way, they clear without any issue at full lock and compression.
Can you lift a newer Ram ProMaster 3 inches?
This is the single most important thing to know before you plan a ProMaster lift: a full 3-inch kit like this one fits 2022 and older vans. Vans newer than 2022 cannot run anything higher than a 1.5-inch lift, because the later ProMaster has much more sensitive stability control and cross-wind assist that will not tolerate the bigger geometry change. If you have a 2023 or newer ProMaster and want to go taller, the answer today is that 1.5 inches is the ceiling — so plan your tire size and clearance goals around that.
How it drives
About the same as stock. That is the goal on a camper van the owner lives out of on the road — you want the clearance and the traction without giving up the highway manners, and a 3-inch Journey's lift on a 2022 delivers exactly that.
Protecting the underbody generator
The Travato carries an onboard Onan generator that hangs low under the van, right in the path of rocks and debris once you are off pavement. We added our Ram ProMaster generator skid plate to shield it — cheap insurance against a very expensive part.
