Safety and Preparation

Install Clip Nuts on Front Bracket

The first step will be to install the 3/8"-16 clip nuts on the front bracket as shown below. The clip nuts will go on the end of the bracket where the two holes are equal distance to the edge of the plate. The other end of the plate will have three holes that are slightly offset to match the factory holes on the engine crossmember.
Use provided blue loctite on all bolts that go into clip nuts.

Attach Front Bracket to Engine Crossmember

The front bracket can now be attached to the engine cradle crossmember. There will be two or three holes on the back of the engine crossmember that will match with the front bracket. The bracket will be installed with the provided 3/8 inch grade 8 bolts, washers, aluminum spacers and Nylock nuts. Note: There are differences in the factory holes on the engine crossmember for new F250s - these will NOT use the center hole in the bracket. 2020-2022 F250s and 2020+ F350/F450/F550/F600 will use all three bolt holes. The engine crossmember hole furthest to the passenger side will have a coolant line with a plastic rivet holding it in the hole. Use a trim tool to remove this plastic clip and move the line above the hole.
2023+ F250's will not use the center bolt hole

Install Front Bracket Spacers

Below is an exploded diagram of how the spacers will be used to install the front bracket. There will be (4) 2 inch diameter 1/4 inch thick aluminum spacers and (1) 1.5 inch diameter spacer that is 3/16 inch thick. The drivers side large frame hole will use: (2) 2 inch OD spacers and (1) 1.5 inch OD spacer. Place (1) 2 inch OD spacer against the bracket followed by the 1.5 inch OD spacer which fits snugly inside the large hole in the engine crossmember. The second 2 inch spacer goes on the backside of the engine crossmember to create a sandwich around the large factory hole. The larger hole in the engine crossmember is on a curved surface - the 2 inch aluminum spacer is designed to be tightened until it deforms to be flush with the curved surface.

Install Passenger and Center Bolts

For both the passenger side and center bolt holes in the engine crossmember you will use (1) 3/8" grade 8 bolt, (2) 3/8" washers, (1) 2 inch diameter aluminum spacer between bracket and crossmember and (1) nylock nut to secure the bracket.

Remove Factory Transfer Case Skid Plate (if applicable) and install clip nuts

If you have a FX4 or Tremor with a factory transfer case skid plate, remove the factory transfer case skid plate. The engine skid plate will use the transfer case skid plate mounting locations on the rear crossmember as shown below. Remove factory clip nuts (if installed) and install the provided 3/8 inch clip nuts in these (2) locations. Pro Tip: It can be very helpful while installing clip nuts to use a flat head screwdriver and a hammer to tap the clip nuts into place until the retaining clip snaps into the hole. See image below

Install Engine Skid Plate

Now the engine skid plate can be installed. Hold the skid plate up and align the front bracket clip nuts with the front bracket and the rear holes over the rear crossmember. Use the provided (4) 3/8 inch bolts and washers to install the skid plate. If you are installing the transfer case skid plate or re-installing the factory transfer case skid plate, place the TC skid plate over the engine skid plate prior to installing the rear crossmember 3/8 inch bolts and washers. Skip to Step 8 and use the M12 bolt to hold the rear of the Engine Skid Plate first.

Install Passenger Side Rear Bolt

On the passenger side of the rear crossmember you will put the provided M12 serrated nut into the transmission support cutout in the rear crossmember and use the provided M12 bolt and washer to complete the install of the engine skid plate. Hold the M12 serrated flange nut with your fingers while you thread the M12 bolt into the nut. Once there is light tension on the bolt the serrations on the nut will hold against the frame allowing you to just tighten the bolt.

Install Transfer Case Clip Nuts

For the transfer case install there will be(2) 3/8 inch clip nut locations on the outside of the frame rail on the drivers side of the truck. You can either use the factory M10 clip nuts or the provided 3/8 inch clip nuts in this location to secure the remaining two bolts for the transfer case skid plate.
