2010-2026 Mercedes Sprinter Catalytic Converter Guard & Shield

The first step of the installation process will be to install the 3/16"-16 stainless steel rivnuts with provided installation tool. See picture below for the location of the two existing holes in the passenger side frame rail. Thread one of the rivnuts all the way down on the installation tool until snug. Then insert rivnut into the existing hole on the frame rail until flush with the flange of the rivnut. Using two 9/16" wrenches hold the jam nut steady and turn the bottom nut clockwise to compress the rivnut into the frame. The tension will increase when the rivnut is completely clamped into place (should be approximately 6-10 full rotation of the screw).

Once (2) rivnuts are installed the two shorter straight brackets can be installed with supplied 3/16" security bolt and washer. The 90 degree bend will be installed at the frame and the 45 degree bend will be pointed towards the center of the van. See picture below for bracket identification and installed picture. Leave these bolts loose for now. Note: For 2023+ Sprinters you will use (3) shorter brackets and the angled bracket. The long bracket three over from the left in the picture below will not be used.

Once the frame rail brackets are installed the inner brackets will be installed using factory bolts at the locations shown in the picture below. These bolts use an E18 socket or a 14mm standard socket/wrench. Note: For 2023+ Sprinters the bolts will be in the same location as shown below. There will be a black cage around the driveshaft so it will look different, but the bolts are in the same location and orientation.

Once these bolts have been removed install the two remaining brackets as shown in the picture below.

Once all four brackets have been installed the cat shield can be installed. Using a jack or a partner hold the cat shield up to the brackets with arrow facing the front of the vehicle. Use the provided (4) security bolts with a washer on either side and (4) nylok nuts to secure the cat shield to the brackets. See picture below for installed cat shield.
