Cat thieves work fast. This shield makes your Sprinter not worth the trouble.

The Sprinter's catalytic converter hangs low and exposed under the van — a 90-second sawzall target that costs $4,000-$5,000 to replace, with wait times that can stretch up to 6 months while your van sits parked. This guard boxes the converter in from the front, back, and sides, blocking access from every direction and taking the abuse from rocks and road debris while it's at it.

Aluminum can't rust the way steel plates do — every scratch on steel armor is where corrosion starts, especially with road salt. Ours is 1/4" 5052 aluminum, powder-coated black, CNC plasma-cut and press-brake formed in our Wheat Ridge, Colorado shop.

Specs

  • Covers the front, back, and sides of the catalytic converter — blocked in from all directions
  • Full 1/4" aluminum plate — lighter than steel, no rust, ever
  • Powder-coated black for abrasion resistance
  • Bolt-on installation using existing frame holes and bolts — no drilling, no modifications
  • Includes security head bolts, driver, and rivnut installation tool
  • All hardware included
  • Designed, cut, and finished in Colorado — 100% made in USA
  • Lifetime warranty

✅ Will this fit your van?

Fits 2010-2026 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter 1500, 2500, and 3500 — all 2WD and 4WD models.

⚠️ Will not fit vehicles with a 4"+ lift — aftermarket drop brackets and crossmembers interfere with factory mounting points.

Aluminum vs. steel — why we build in 1/4″ aluminum

Comparison of 1/4-inch 5052-H32 aluminum and typical 3/16-inch steel skid plates
What matters underbody Our 1/4″ 5052-H32 aluminum Typical 3/16″ steel
Resistance to permanent bending Higher — bend resistance rises with the square of thickness Baseline
Weight About half — easier on payload Heavier — a full set can top 120 lb
Corrosion Won't rust Rusts where the coating chips
Surface hardness (drag over rock) Softer — can gouge on granite Harder — steel's real edge

Thickness does more work than material name: resistance to permanent bending scales with the square of plate thickness, so 1/4″ 5052-H32 aluminum takes a bigger hit before it stays bent than the 3/16″ steel most kits run — at about half the weight, and it never rusts. Steel’s honest advantage is surface hardness: if your truck lives on rock ledges, steel gouges less. For most owners, the thicker aluminum wins the trade.

A little fiddly getting it to fit right. But overall quality is great.

This should be a good deterrent for theft and an ample guard for rocks. It was an easy install with an Astro-Pneumatic rivnut installer and I did the install without any jacks, just a creeper. I’m happy with the purchase.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Common questions about our skid plates and armor

What does it protect, and from what?

It guards the catalytic converter from theft and road damage, enclosing it on the front, back, and sides.

Does it actually stop catalytic-converter theft?

It's a strong deterrent — it blocks access from all sides and includes security head bolts, adding the time and noise that make thieves move on. A Sprinter catalytic converter replacement runs around $4,000–$5,000 and can take months.

Does it fit 2WD and 4WD?

Yes — fits all 2WD and 4WD diesel Mercedes Sprinters from 2006 to 2026.

Is it a no-drill install?

Yes — it uses existing frame holes and bolts, and includes security head bolts, a driver, and a rivnut installation tool.

What is a skid plate, and what does it protect?

Underbody armor that shields your oil pan, transmission, catalytic converter, transfer case, and front differential from rocks, road debris, potholes, and trail impacts.

What are Juggernaut skid plates made of?

1/4" 5052-H32 aluminum, powder-coated black, with steel mounting brackets where needed — made in-house in Wheat Ridge, Colorado from US-sourced aluminum.

Why aluminum instead of steel?

Aluminum is roughly half the weight of steel and won't rust — full-strength underbody protection without the weight penalty or corrosion of steel armor.

Will a skid plate hurt my gas mileage?

Negligibly — an aluminum set weighs about half what steel does, so the added weight is minimal.

Do I need one if I mostly drive on the street?

Yes — potholes, road debris, and steep driveways damage undercarriages even off the trail. It's cheap insurance against expensive repairs.

Do I have to drill or modify my vehicle to install it?

No — every Juggernaut skid plate is 100% bolt-on to factory mounting points. No drilling, cutting, or welding.

Can I install it myself?

Yes — bolt-on installation with basic hand tools, usually about 1–2 hours. Step-by-step guides are on each product's install page.

Can I still change my oil with the skid plate installed?

Yes — our plates include oil-drain access cutouts so you can do routine oil changes without removing the skid plate.

Will it affect engine or transmission cooling?

No — the plates are designed to preserve factory airflow to coolers and components.

Will it reduce my ground clearance?

Minimal — plates contour to the frame and tuck up against the underbody so they slide over obstacles rather than hang low.

Will it rust or corrode?

No — aluminum doesn't rust, and the black powder coat adds further corrosion resistance.

Does adding a skid plate void my vehicle warranty?

No — under the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, a bolt-on aftermarket part can't void your factory warranty on its own.

What warranty do Juggernaut skid plates include?

A lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects.

Where are they made and how fast do they ship?

Made in the USA in Wheat Ridge, Colorado and shipped nationwide next business day. Use the year/make/model selector on any product page to confirm fit.
