We installed a Shrockworks steel front bumper and a WARN Evo winch on a 5th-gen Toyota 4Runner — turning the front end into a real recovery setup with a brush guard, integrated skid, fog lights, and a winch ready to pull. It is one of the most useful upgrades you can make to a 4Runner headed off pavement.
This 4Runner came through Juggernaut USA in Wheat Ridge (Denver), CO for a front-end overhaul. The factory plastic bumper looks fine in a parking lot but gives you nothing on the trail — no winch mount, no recovery points, no protection. We swapped it for a Shrockworks steel bumper and mounted a WARN Evo winch, so the truck can pull itself (or someone else) out of trouble and take a hit without folding.

The Shrockworks steel front bumper
Shrockworks builds heavy-duty steel bumpers for the 4Runner, and this one gives the front end everything the factory bumper does not: a winch cradle, real recovery points, a brush guard over the grille, and an integrated skid under the nose. It bolts to the frame, so it takes an impact and passes the load into the truck's structure instead of crumpling. We fit it, aligned it to the body lines, and wired in the fog lights.
The WARN Evo winch
Mounted in the bumper is a WARN Evo winch — a proven, dependable recovery winch. On a 4Runner that sees dirt, snow, and rocks, a winch is the difference between a story and a tow bill: it lets the truck pull itself off an obstacle or out of a rut under its own power, and lets it help recover someone else. We mounted it, ran the wiring, and tested it as part of the install.
Why a winch bumper on a 4Runner
The 4Runner is one of the most capable stock platforms out there, but the factory front bumper is its weak point off-road — no protection, no recovery gear, and a low plastic valance that catches on everything. A steel winch bumper fixes all of that at once: protection, recovery, better approach angle, and a place for lights. It is the single upgrade that turns a capable 4Runner into a genuinely trail-ready one.

Do I need a winch, or just a bumper?
A steel bumper alone gives you protection and recovery points. Adding a winch gives you self-recovery — the ability to get unstuck without waiting for a strap or a tow. If you wheel alone or far from help, the winch is worth it.
Will a steel bumper hurt my 4Runner's ride?
It adds weight up front, which can settle the nose slightly. If you are going heavy, pairing the bumper with a front leveling or lift setup keeps the stance and ride where you want it — something we can do at the same time.
Can you install a bumper and winch I already bought?
Yes. Bring us the parts and we will fit, mount, wire, and test the whole setup so it works right the first time.
