The ProMaster's front-wheel-drive layout hangs its engine, transmission, and catalytic converters low and forward — right where road debris hits first.

This one-piece front skid plate shields the engine, transmission, and catalytic converters on your ProMaster. There's no frame rail down there to take the hit — a curb strike or rock can crack an oil pan or transmission case and end a trip on the spot. It also puts 1/4" of aluminum between a thief's sawzall and your catalytic converters, one of the most-targeted parts on any van.

Aluminum can't rust the way steel plates do — every scratch on steel armor is where corrosion starts, especially with road salt. Ours is 1/4" 5052 aluminum, powder-coated black, CNC plasma-cut and press-brake formed in our Wheat Ridge, Colorado shop.

Thickness does more work than material name: resistance to permanent bending scales with the square of plate thickness, so 1/4″ 5052-H32 aluminum takes a bigger hit before it stays bent than the 3/16″ steel most kits run — at about half the weight, and it never rusts. Steel’s honest advantage is surface hardness: if your truck lives on rock ledges, steel gouges less. For most owners, the thicker aluminum wins the trade.

Looks great!! I also have the 2" Front Hitch on My 2020 Travato 59K. All we had to do was notch the small 2" section were the hitch is and it fit perfectly. I also added the 3" Lift Kit, Sumo Springs and Generator Skid plate. Definately in better shape for some off-road adventures now!! You guys are the best with constant support and everyone was so available and helpful. Thank You!!

Great skid plate for the Promaster! The plate is rugged and the mounting brackets are robust. I'd have preferred a longer plate to protect the fuel tank as well, but it does offer good protection of what it covers. The instructions could use some help, the pictures of the mounting location for the flag bolt plate were much less than clear. The promised video would be a great help. All in all a quality product.

Why aluminum instead of steel?

Aluminum is roughly half the weight of steel and won't rust — full-strength underbody protection without the weight penalty or corrosion of steel armor.

Will a skid plate hurt my gas mileage?

Negligibly — an aluminum set weighs about half what steel does, so the added weight is minimal.

Do I need one if I mostly drive on the street?

Yes — potholes, road debris, and steep driveways damage undercarriages even off the trail. It's cheap insurance against expensive repairs.

Do I have to drill or modify my vehicle to install it?

No — every Juggernaut skid plate is 100% bolt-on to factory mounting points. No drilling, cutting, or welding.

Can I install it myself?

Yes — bolt-on installation with basic hand tools, usually about 1–2 hours. Step-by-step guides are on each product's install page.

Can I still change my oil with the skid plate installed?

Yes — our plates include oil-drain access cutouts so you can do routine oil changes without removing the skid plate.

Minimal — plates contour to the frame and tuck up against the underbody so they slide over obstacles rather than hang low.
