Land Cruiser 250 Skid Plates (2024–2027): What to Protect and What Fits.
Engine, transmission and transfer case plates for the 2024–2027 Land Cruiser 250. What to protect first, how SDM affects fitment, and how the 250 shares plates with the 4Runner.
Every US Land Cruiser 250 is an i-FORCE MAX hybrid with full-time 4WD, so there is only one drivetrain to fit. The 250 shares Toyota's TNGA-F platform with the 2025-onward 4Runner, and the mounting points line up. That is why armor for it arrived quickly, and why our Land Cruiser plates are the same parts we build for the hybrid 4Runner.
Protect it in this order: engine and front, transmission, transfer case, fuel tank. The fitment question on this truck is SDM, the electric front sway-bar disconnect on the Land Cruiser and First Edition trims. Our plates fit every trim, with or without SDM, and the transmission plate covers the actuator.
We make engine, transmission and transfer case skid plates for the 2024–2027 Land Cruiser 250. They are 1/4″ 5052 aluminum, cut, folded, MIG welded and powder coated in our Wheat Ridge, Colorado shop, and they are the same plates we build for the hybrid 2025-onward 4Runner.
This page covers what on a Land Cruiser needs protecting, the one fitment question that matters on this truck, and how our plates compare with the other armor available for it.

One drivetrain, so fitment is simple
Every US Land Cruiser 250 is the i-FORCE MAX hybrid: a turbocharged 2.4-liter four with an electric motor in the transmission, 326 hp and 465 lb-ft, with full-time 4WD and a two-speed transfer case. There is no 2WD and no non-hybrid version in the US.
That matters when you shop. Plates for this platform are often listed for the Tacoma and 4Runner as well, and those listings ask you to choose hybrid or non-hybrid, 2WD or 4WD. On a Land Cruiser the answer is always hybrid, 4WD.
ASFIR's catalogue also includes diesel and urea-tank versions of the 250 built for markets outside the US. Check that the listing is for the 2.4-liter hybrid.
The Land Cruiser shares its underside with the 4Runner
The 250-series sits on Toyota's TNGA-F platform with the 2024-onward Tacoma and the 2025-onward 4Runner. The mounting points under the Land Cruiser and the hybrid 4Runner line up, so the same plate fits both.
That is why the aftermarket arrived quickly for a vehicle this new, and it is why our Land Cruiser plates are the parts we already build for the hybrid 4Runner.
When you search, search the platform as well as the model name. A plate listed for the 4Runner may be the part you need.

SDM: the fitment question on this truck
Older Toyotas had KDSS, a hydraulic sway-bar system that changed which skid plates fit. The Land Cruiser 250 does not have KDSS. It has SDM (Stabilizer with Disconnection Mechanism), an electric actuator that disconnects the front anti-roll bar. SDM is standard on the Land Cruiser and First Edition trims. The 1958 does not have it.
The actuator sits in the area a front or transmission plate covers, so some manufacturers have sold separate versions. C4 Fabrication have listed disconnect and non-disconnect versions of their kit. ASFIR's disconnect-specific transmission plate is for the diesel 250, which is not sold in the US.
Our transmission plate fits Land Cruisers with SDM and covers the actuator along with the transmission pan and the catalytic converters.
The same plate fits the 1958, which has no SDM. There is one version, so you do not need to choose by trim.

What the factory gives you
On the 1958 and the Land Cruiser trim, not much. When we put one on our lift, it had thin metal under the engine, plastic behind it, and nothing at all under the transmission. Owners on the Land Cruiser forums describe the same stock setup: three pieces, two of thin metal and one of plastic, none of them reaching far back.
The 2024 First Edition came with Toyota's steel front and transmission skid plates as standard. The same plates are sold through Toyota dealers as accessories for the other trims: the front plate is PT228-60242, and the transmission plate is PT228-35247 (listed earlier as PT228-35241). They reach back to the third frame crossmember.
Even on the First Edition, the transfer case is left uncovered and the fuel tank gets only a thin partial shield. On the 1958 and the Land Cruiser trim, the transmission is exposed as well.
Before you order, look under your own truck. Check what is bolted under the engine, whether anything covers the transmission pan, and what sits under the transfer case.
What to protect first
1. Engine and front. The oil pan, front differential and steering rack sit low at the front, and they take the first hit on a rock or ledge. The factory metal here is thin.

2. Transmission. The pan hangs below the frame where a high-center lands, and on most trims nothing covers it from the factory. On SDM trucks, the disconnect actuator is in the same area.
3. Transfer case. The Land Cruiser runs full-time 4WD, so the transfer case works on every drive. It hangs in the middle of the chassis, in the path of anything you straddle, and no trim covers it from the factory.

4. Fuel tank. Worth adding on a truck that sees rocky trails. We don't make a Land Cruiser fuel tank plate today. Several of the manufacturers below do.
5. Catalytic converters. Our transmission plate covers them. Converter theft is a risk on anything with clearance to crawl under. Our cat shield explainer covers what actually slows a thief down.
Replacement parts for the 250 are still scarce. Damage to a part nobody stocks yet means a longer wait and a bigger bill than the same damage on an older platform.
Our Land Cruiser plates
| Plate | Covers | Weight |
|---|---|---|
| Engine (two pieces) | Oil pan, front differential, power steering rack. Oil drain and filter access, so the plate stays on for oil changes. | ~33 lb |
| Transmission | Transmission pan, catalytic converters, the SDM actuator on trucks that have it, and the components below the frame | ~29 lb |
| Transfer case | Transfer case housing | ~14 lb |
| Full package | All four plates | ~70 lb |
All four plates are 1/4″ 5052-H32 aluminum. We CNC plasma cut them, fold them on a press brake, MIG weld the brackets and powder coat them black. They bolt to the factory mounting points with no drilling, and all hardware is included. They carry our Limited Lifetime Manufacturer's Warranty.

They work with frame-mounted rock sliders and aftermarket suspension kits. They will not fit lifts over 4″ that use subframe drops, because the drop brackets take the factory mounting points.
We also run a full 4x4 install shop in Wheat Ridge. If you are near Colorado we can fit them for you. Call or text (970) 341-4221.
From our install bay: we test-fit these on a 2026 Land Cruiser running an ICON Stage 5 suspension system, and fitted them on a 2025 Land Cruiser alongside Fab Fours frame-mounted rock sliders. The plates don't interfere with frame-mounted sliders, so you can run both. Oil changes work with the plates on: the drain and the filter are reached through the engine plate, so it stays bolted up.

Other options for the Land Cruiser 250
Checked against each manufacturer's own listings in July and September 2026. Specifications change, so confirm before you buy.
| Brand | Material | What the kit covers | Fuel tank | SDM versions |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Juggernaut | 1/4″ 5052 aluminum | Two-piece engine, transmission with converter coverage, transfer case (package or individual) | Not offered | One plate fits every trim and covers the SDM actuator |
| RCI Off Road | 3/16″ steel or 1/4″ aluminum | Engine, transmission and transfer case, with a steel crossmember | Sold separately | Hybrid-specific transmission plate; no separate SDM version listed |
| C4 Fabrication | 3/16″ steel | Front and rear plates, radiator through transfer case | Sold separately | Disconnect and non-disconnect versions |
| ASFIR 4x4 | 1/4″ aluminum | Front, transmission, fuel tank, transfer case | Included | None listed for the US hybrid (their disconnect plate is diesel-only) |
| Rival 4x4 | 1/4″ stamped aluminum | Individual plates: engine, transfer case, transmission, fuel tank, control arms | Separate plate | Shared with Tacoma and 4Runner |
Steel or aluminum is the biggest choice here. Full steel coverage on this truck runs 122 to 128 lb against 65 to 87 lb in 1/4″ aluminum, and aluminum won't rust. Our aluminum vs steel comparison covers the trade-offs.

How to judge a kit
- Count components, not plates. Kits differ on whether the fuel tank is included. Write down what you want covered and check it against the listing.
- Confirm SDM on your trim and match it to the plate.
- Check oil-change access. A plate that has to come off for every oil change tends to get left off.
- Thickness floor: 3/16″ in steel or 1/4″ in aluminum. At 1/8″ or below, a plate is a debris cover.
FAQ
Do you make skid plates for the Land Cruiser 250?
Yes: a two-piece engine skid, a transmission plate and a transfer case plate, sold individually or as a four-plate package, for the 2024–2027 Land Cruiser.
Does the Land Cruiser 250 come with skid plates?
Not real ones on most trims. The 1958 and the Land Cruiser trim have thin metal under the engine, plastic behind it, and nothing under the transmission. The 2024 First Edition added Toyota's steel front and transmission plates. No trim covers the transfer case.
Are they the same as your 4Runner plates?
Yes. The Land Cruiser 250 and the hybrid 2025-onward 4Runner share the TNGA-F platform and factory mounting points, and the plates are the same parts.
Do they fit trucks with SDM?
Yes. One plate fits every trim, with or without SDM, and on SDM trucks it covers the actuator.
Do the plates cover the catalytic converters?
Yes, the transmission plate covers them.
Can I change the oil with the engine plate on?
Yes. The drain and the filter are both reached through the engine plate, so it stays on for oil changes.
Do I need to choose hybrid or non-hybrid?
No. Every US Land Cruiser 250 is a hybrid, and our listings are built for it.
Will they work with rock sliders?
Yes. They don't interfere with frame-mounted sliders. We have installed them alongside Fab Fours sliders on a 2025 Land Cruiser.
Will they fit a lifted Land Cruiser?
Yes, with aftermarket suspension kits. They will not fit lifts over 4″ that use subframe drops, because the drop brackets take the factory mounting points. We have test-fit them on a Land Cruiser running an ICON Stage 5 suspension system. For other lifts and leveling kits, text us your setup at (970) 341-4221.
Does the Land Cruiser 250 have KDSS?
No. It has SDM, an electric front sway-bar disconnect, on the Land Cruiser and First Edition trims. The 1958 has neither.
Do you make a fuel tank plate?
Not for the Land Cruiser today.
Can you install them?
Yes, at our Wheat Ridge, Colorado shop. Call or text (970) 341-4221.
Search the platform, not just the model name. The Land Cruiser 250 shares Toyota's TNGA-F platform with the 2025-onward 4Runner, and the mounting points line up. Our Land Cruiser plates are the same parts we build for the hybrid 4Runner.
We manufacture our own 1/4″ 5052-H32 aluminum plates and run a full 4x4 install shop in Wheat Ridge. We fit our Land Cruiser plates, and other brands' armor too.
